The former UK leader, kicked off the inaugural episode of her online program with a pledge to expose "the evil-doers" attempting to weaken Western democracies. She stated she would uncover how an "international network of progressives work to subvert democracy and the will of the people."

"We're going to look at the political movement of Donald Trump and observe how it can be replicated in Britain," she said. "We'll be talking to the prominent voices of the Maga movement."

Prior to the show's launch, there was a strong advocate. "This represents the dawn of a sort of transformation," said John Solomon. His conservative Just the News will publish the former prime minister's new audio shows.

Building Connections in the Maga Media Ecosystem

UK-based allies, including a pro-Reform adviser, played a role in her set up the Liz Truss Show. The production is professional, if basic. Truss has amassed 10,000 subscribers in her first week and her premiere achieved tens of thousands of views in that timeframe.

This marks a modest start, but in partnering with the journalist, the former PM is being entering a mature political media sphere producing and amplifying pro-Trump narratives. Its obsessions include accusations of information control by the established press and a goal to remove a conspiratorial 'deep state' – a force that the ex-PM holds responsible for the abrupt termination of her calamitous premiership.

"Solomon's outlet is not famous outside of the Maga world, but it does have gravitas there, primarily thanks to John Solomon, who gives commentary on Maga platforms like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even spoken with Trump," noted Professor Alex Hinton, who has closely studied the Trumpist political wave.

A Contentious Ally

The former PM's foray to transplant Maga media to the UK has drawn her nearer to controversial figures such as the journalist.

He founded Just the News after backlash following accusations of pushing inaccurate reports about Biden's anti-corruption work in Ukraine, as well as contentious articles about one-time diplomat to the region.

These allegations were repeated throughout the conservative press, with he featuring as a common interviewee on the widely-watched cable news broadcast. The former president personally promoted Solomon's reporting.

The journalist published the Ukraine claims in a number of opinion pieces for the publication the political newspaper, after having been re-labelled as a columnist following internal criticism over his articles. These reports were central in Trump's pressure for the officials in Kyiv to investigate the Bidens in 2019. This pressure led to impeachment proceedings against the president. Through her association with Solomon and Just the News, Truss has become a minor player in a much wider network of conservative media outlets that routinely amplify each other's content.

The journalist's broadcasts have often featured personalities such as commentator Mike Benz, a conservative commentator whose arguments against the foreign aid agency was used by the X owner as reasoning behind shutting down the government body.

An International Strategy

Even though Truss's stilted style and career difficulties have drawn derision within the UK, certain American analysts do not dismiss her efforts to rebrand as a local version of the Maga media.

"You have to take people like Truss seriously, even if you may not want to accept their words at face value," commented Rob Flaherty, who worked in the Biden White House.

"It was evident how in 2024 President Trump leveraged that ecosystem to disseminate his views. Certainly that network exports and influences discourse overseas. It appears fairly obvious to me that the environment in the Britain are akin to what permitted this non-mainstream media network to flourish here."

Professor Alan Finlayson, said the internet-based conservative network was already making its presence felt in Britain.

"Online platforms knows no borders," he stated. "There's a kind atmosphere within which stuff flows – sometimes appearing in harsh versions and occasionally in softer tones – but which is interlinked."

Hinton said the expansion of the online right in the United Kingdom in recent times meant the "chance to have a growing impact is significant."
