From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
